WEBVTT

00:00:19.000 --> 00:00:19.000
But yeah, but we thought we'd do something different, something a little bit out of the ordinary, but hopefully cool.

00:00:19.000 --> 00:00:29.000
>> Yeah, and instead of just like a regular assignment, especially when we were talking about, we wanted to make this more of a conversation.

00:00:29.000 --> 00:00:40.000
And so again, when I actually met up with this week, we talked through a lot of them a couple of times, and we both shared our stories.

00:00:40.000 --> 00:00:45.000
And we really didn't wear all those obstacles, we were just talking.

00:00:45.000 --> 00:00:56.000
And we didn't do that to pan out this exactly, but what I think we discovered is that this was beyond our individual experience.

00:00:56.000 --> 00:00:59.000
So I thought both were together, too.

00:00:59.000 --> 00:01:04.000
We didn't want this to be a center on one person's experience as well.

00:01:04.000 --> 00:01:13.000
Because the use of unity and doing life with everyone here is that experiences that are run together with women

00:01:13.000 --> 00:01:18.000
are far greater than we wanted to experience.

00:01:18.000 --> 00:01:25.000
And this year after our talk, we know that we've been talking about all of the ones that we've done that.

00:01:25.000 --> 00:01:33.000
[INAUDIBLE]

00:01:33.000 --> 00:01:36.000
>> It is an awe-inspiring thing to have made it nine years.

00:01:36.000 --> 00:01:39.000
>> It is an awe-inspiring thing.

00:01:39.000 --> 00:01:57.000
So, in order to do that, I'm going to say that we're not going to do that.

00:01:57.000 --> 00:02:08.000
So, in order to do that, I'm going to say that we're not going to do that.

00:02:08.000 --> 00:02:15.000
So, in order to do that, we're not going to do that.

00:02:15.000 --> 00:02:23.000
So, in order to do that, we're not going to do that.

00:02:23.000 --> 00:02:28.000
So, in order to do that, we're not going to do that.

00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:44.000
[INAUDIBLE]

00:02:44.000 --> 00:02:49.000
>> To help bring that, we've been talking a lot about all of them.

00:02:49.000 --> 00:03:00.000
So, in order to do that, we've been talking a lot about them.

00:03:00.000 --> 00:03:05.000
So, in order to do that, we've been talking a lot about them.

00:03:05.000 --> 00:03:10.000
So, in order to do that, we've been talking about them.

00:03:10.000 --> 00:03:18.000
So, in order to do that, we've been talking about them.

00:03:18.000 --> 00:03:21.000
So, in order to do that, we've been talking about them.

00:03:21.000 --> 00:03:26.000
So, in order to do that, we've been talking about them.

00:03:26.000 --> 00:03:32.000
So, in order to do that, we've been talking about them.

00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:35.000
So, in order to do that, we've been talking about them.

00:03:35.000 --> 00:03:40.000
So, in order to do that, we've been talking about them.

00:03:40.000 --> 00:03:47.000
So, in order to do that, we've been talking about them.

00:03:47.000 --> 00:03:49.000
>> Yeah.

00:03:49.000 --> 00:03:53.000
That is, I think, our natural thought is, like, at the Grand Canyon.

00:03:53.000 --> 00:03:56.000
That's always, like, the overused example, right?

00:03:56.000 --> 00:04:00.000
But I think building on what Chad was talking about last week,

00:04:00.000 --> 00:04:05.000
when we can kind of slow down and just make space,

00:04:05.000 --> 00:04:08.000
like in our minds and in our schedules and things like that,

00:04:08.000 --> 00:04:11.000
we can find all, like, in smaller places, too.

00:04:11.000 --> 00:04:14.000
And I think that's part of the challenge.

00:04:14.000 --> 00:04:19.000
But it's also a little bit reassuring, maybe, or encouraging to know,

00:04:19.000 --> 00:04:22.000
I don't have to, like, take a vacation or, like,

00:04:22.000 --> 00:04:26.000
go to outer space to experience awe.

00:04:26.000 --> 00:04:31.000
Like, you can find these, like, in the everyday.

00:04:31.000 --> 00:04:37.000
I guess it's inevitable that I'm going to use my daughter as an example in things.

00:04:37.000 --> 00:04:41.000
But, so, Grace, she's 18 months now,

00:04:41.000 --> 00:04:47.000
and she is absolutely obsessed with helicopters.

00:04:47.000 --> 00:04:49.000
She calls them hub-bub-bub.

00:04:49.000 --> 00:04:52.000
And where we live, just a few blocks away,

00:04:52.000 --> 00:04:55.000
like, there's helicopters that'll fly around downtown,

00:04:55.000 --> 00:04:57.000
you know, the sightseeing helicopters,

00:04:57.000 --> 00:05:00.000
and sometimes helicopters that are going to and from the hospital.

00:05:00.000 --> 00:05:04.000
But, so, I mean, we'll be just, like, eating dinner or something,

00:05:04.000 --> 00:05:06.000
and she'll hear it.

00:05:06.000 --> 00:05:09.000
The girl has good ears, because she will hear it,

00:05:09.000 --> 00:05:12.000
and she just like stops, and she looks at me and goes,

00:05:12.000 --> 00:05:13.000
hub-bub-bub!

00:05:13.000 --> 00:05:17.000
And she'll raise her hands, because she wants me to pick her up and run

00:05:17.000 --> 00:05:24.000
out onto the balcony so we can, like, look across the sky to try to find the helicopter.

00:05:24.000 --> 00:05:26.000
And then, like, on one end of the balcony,

00:05:26.000 --> 00:05:30.000
and then we run to the other end of the balcony to follow it as it goes along.

00:05:30.000 --> 00:05:34.000
But she just loves helicopters.

00:05:34.000 --> 00:05:37.000
And it's like, oh, she's finding awe.

00:05:37.000 --> 00:05:42.000
And I mean, yeah, helicopters are cool, that things can fly as cool.

00:05:42.000 --> 00:05:47.000
But she's finding awe in something that I take for granted a lot of times.

00:05:47.000 --> 00:05:52.000
And then another instance with Grace that I've noticed is, like, I can mention,

00:05:52.000 --> 00:05:56.000
she's 18 months old, she's learning to eat with utensils.

00:05:56.000 --> 00:06:00.000
And I'm going to be honest, she's not good at it right now.

00:06:00.000 --> 00:06:04.000
And so, this often ends up kind of messy,

00:06:04.000 --> 00:06:09.000
and I'm at home with her a lot, and so I'm going to have to clean this up.

00:06:09.000 --> 00:06:13.000
And that can really, like, frustrate me.

00:06:13.000 --> 00:06:18.000
And I'll just, I want to do it myself and just be like, hey, let's just eat

00:06:18.000 --> 00:06:20.000
and get it over with.

00:06:20.000 --> 00:06:24.000
But, you know, like, that's a, I know that I need to work on that.

00:06:24.000 --> 00:06:27.000
I know God is working on me through Grace.

00:06:27.000 --> 00:06:33.000
But, but, when I am able to stop and think about it,

00:06:33.000 --> 00:06:42.000
she's got all these fresh baby neurons that are forming and, like, coming together

00:06:42.000 --> 00:06:44.000
and making all these connections.

00:06:44.000 --> 00:06:49.000
And so, she's, as she's picking up a fork and, like, thinking about how to grip it

00:06:49.000 --> 00:06:53.000
and then, you know, stab the eggs or whatever it is.

00:06:53.000 --> 00:06:59.000
And then, angle that, like, raise that the right amount to go into her mouth.

00:06:59.000 --> 00:07:06.000
There's just a lot happening in such a small thing as eating.

00:07:06.000 --> 00:07:09.000
And that's amazing.

00:07:09.000 --> 00:07:14.000
Like, there's something really, I mean, we can understand it all we want,

00:07:14.000 --> 00:07:18.000
but it still feels pretty miraculous that all that is happening.

00:07:18.000 --> 00:07:24.000
And it's happening just in this tiny little package of a human who's, you know,

00:07:24.000 --> 00:07:28.000
making a mess at the end of my table.

00:07:28.000 --> 00:07:30.000
But, this is an opportunity.

00:07:30.000 --> 00:07:35.000
Again, if I can, like, think about it, pause and think about it

00:07:35.000 --> 00:07:37.000
and let myself experience this.

00:07:37.000 --> 00:07:38.000
Oh, that's just right there.

00:07:38.000 --> 00:07:39.000
And it's there.

00:07:39.000 --> 00:07:42.000
It is there every day.

00:07:42.000 --> 00:07:48.000
But, you know, like, think about, you hear the statistic about how many, like, bacteria

00:07:48.000 --> 00:07:52.000
and virus and fungi are in your stomach, are in your guts.

00:07:52.000 --> 00:07:53.000
And it's, like, trillions.

00:07:53.000 --> 00:07:54.000
Like, trillions.

00:07:54.000 --> 00:08:00.000
There's, like, as many organisms in your digestive tract as there are cells in your body.

00:08:00.000 --> 00:08:07.000
So it's like you're as much bacteria as you are human cells.

00:08:07.000 --> 00:08:09.000
Like, it's fascinating.

00:08:09.000 --> 00:08:10.000
Like, that's weird.

00:08:10.000 --> 00:08:11.000
That's really weird to think about.

00:08:11.000 --> 00:08:15.000
But it's amazing that that's happening.

00:08:15.000 --> 00:08:19.000
And, you know, you think about, like, the way cells are held together.

00:08:19.000 --> 00:08:21.000
And it just keeps going, you know?

00:08:21.000 --> 00:08:24.000
I mean, it's incredible.

00:08:24.000 --> 00:08:29.000
It's just, like, these fractal kind of patterns of awe in the universe.

00:08:29.000 --> 00:08:36.000
Like, to paraphrase the quote, like, it feels like it's wonder all the way down.

00:08:36.000 --> 00:08:39.000
But we have to pause, like, we learned last week.

00:08:39.000 --> 00:08:43.000
And then we have to, like, tune our awareness to it.

00:08:43.000 --> 00:08:45.000
And that can be a challenge, for sure.

00:08:45.000 --> 00:08:48.000
But it feels like the invitation's there.

00:08:48.000 --> 00:08:49.000
Does that make sense?

00:08:49.000 --> 00:08:51.000
Right.

00:08:51.000 --> 00:08:55.000
On that example, another way to talk about when I'm talking.

00:08:55.000 --> 00:09:00.000
I know that scrolling on your phone so maybe I get the bad rap.

00:09:00.000 --> 00:09:04.000
For a good reason, how to learn, like, there's something you can talk about.

00:09:04.000 --> 00:09:08.000
Like, it can be hard in your heart.

00:09:08.000 --> 00:09:11.000
So, well, there's something around it that you can work on.

00:09:11.000 --> 00:09:19.000
But I think that you're talking about whether you talk too much and why you always do it.

00:09:19.000 --> 00:09:26.000
Not because of the reason you're doing it, but because you're kind of talking to me, too.

00:09:26.000 --> 00:09:34.000
And I am having, I was looking at something so far from somebody that is a natural.

00:09:34.000 --> 00:09:38.000
You have hands to raise a bunch of money for the community.

00:09:38.000 --> 00:09:42.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:09:42.000 --> 00:09:46.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:09:46.000 --> 00:09:49.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:09:49.000 --> 00:09:52.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:09:52.000 --> 00:09:55.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:09:55.000 --> 00:09:58.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:09:58.000 --> 00:10:01.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:10:01.000 --> 00:10:04.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:10:04.000 --> 00:10:10.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:10:10.000 --> 00:10:12.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:10:12.000 --> 00:10:15.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:10:15.000 --> 00:10:18.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:10:18.000 --> 00:10:23.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:10:23.000 --> 00:10:30.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:10:30.000 --> 00:10:39.000
And then you have a lot of money for the community.

00:10:39.000 --> 00:10:42.000
Yeah, that's an interesting way to think about it.

00:10:42.000 --> 00:10:45.000
That it's like kind of grabbing.

00:10:45.000 --> 00:10:49.000
And we wanted to open the floor a little bit here.

00:10:49.000 --> 00:10:53.000
Like what moments have done that to you?

00:10:53.000 --> 00:10:59.000
Like what kinds of things have you seen like that interrupt your life?

00:10:59.000 --> 00:11:03.000
Can you think of, does anything come to mind when we talk about that?

00:11:03.000 --> 00:11:05.000
Are you here, Brittany's story?

00:11:05.000 --> 00:11:10.000
Yeah, there's not a bad answer.

00:11:10.000 --> 00:11:39.000
Okay.

00:11:39.000 --> 00:11:46.000
Yeah.

00:12:09.000 --> 00:12:16.000
Yeah, that's awesome.

00:12:16.000 --> 00:12:24.000
Yeah, that's awesome.

00:12:24.000 --> 00:12:50.000
Yeah, that's awesome.

00:12:50.000 --> 00:13:00.000
Yeah.

00:13:00.000 --> 00:13:02.000
Can be unexpected.

00:13:02.000 --> 00:13:11.000
One of the very, very back.

00:13:11.000 --> 00:13:37.000
Okay.

00:13:37.000 --> 00:13:39.000
Yeah, that's awesome.

00:13:39.000 --> 00:13:45.000
Yeah, I know we're going to talk in the next few weeks kind of about what to do with these moments.

00:13:45.000 --> 00:13:52.000
Because yeah, what do you do with crying in a JV Mariachi classroom?

00:13:52.000 --> 00:13:57.000
But yeah, anything else?

00:13:57.000 --> 00:14:26.000
Yeah.

00:14:26.000 --> 00:14:30.000
Yeah.

00:14:30.000 --> 00:14:36.000
Frank Sinatra.

00:14:36.000 --> 00:14:44.000
Yeah, yeah.

00:14:44.000 --> 00:14:46.000
Yeah.

00:14:46.000 --> 00:14:52.000
Yeah, the Holy Spirit can speak through all blue eyes too.

00:14:52.000 --> 00:14:56.000
Yeah, that's cool.

00:14:56.000 --> 00:15:00.000
Yeah, so I love these examples because there's a variety of them.

00:15:00.000 --> 00:15:03.000
Some, it's just kind of nature and spontaneous.

00:15:03.000 --> 00:15:06.000
A lot of it's relationship based.

00:15:06.000 --> 00:15:12.000
And I love that even like kind of internal can be a source of awe.

00:15:12.000 --> 00:15:20.000
In the Bible, we see a couple, there's a couple stories from the stories about Jesus that kind of point to this a little bit.

00:15:20.000 --> 00:15:23.000
Chad kind of planted these ideas.

00:15:23.000 --> 00:15:28.000
It was like, oh, I've never thought about that angle on these stories before.

00:15:28.000 --> 00:15:31.000
But we'll just talk about a couple of them real quick.

00:15:31.000 --> 00:15:33.000
So the first one is the story.

00:15:33.000 --> 00:15:37.000
It's known kind of as the widows might, the story of the widows might.

00:15:37.000 --> 00:15:38.000
You may know it.

00:15:38.000 --> 00:15:42.000
But it's a really, it's a pretty short story.

00:15:42.000 --> 00:15:44.000
We find it in the Gospel of Luke.

00:15:44.000 --> 00:15:47.000
And at this point, Jesus is in Jerusalem.

00:15:47.000 --> 00:15:52.000
It's getting kind of close to the end of his ministry before he gets arrested.

00:15:52.000 --> 00:15:57.000
He's crucified by the religious leaders and the government there.

00:15:57.000 --> 00:15:58.000
That's just a few days away.

00:15:58.000 --> 00:16:03.000
And so here he's teaching a lot as he did throughout his ministry about the kingdom of God.

00:16:03.000 --> 00:16:11.000
And talking about the way in which things are very different in the kingdom of God.

00:16:11.000 --> 00:16:17.000
And so he's at the temple and sees this, sees this.

00:16:17.000 --> 00:16:22.000
And so we find it in chapter 21, it's verses one through four, where it says,

00:16:22.000 --> 00:16:27.000
"He looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury.

00:16:27.000 --> 00:16:31.000
He also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins.

00:16:31.000 --> 00:16:36.000
He said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them.

00:16:36.000 --> 00:16:41.000
All of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she, out of her poverty,

00:16:41.000 --> 00:16:44.000
has put in all she had to live on."

00:16:44.000 --> 00:16:48.000
It's a short little story.

00:16:48.000 --> 00:16:50.000
And it works, I think it works on a few levels.

00:16:50.000 --> 00:16:55.000
So, you know, obviously we can, I feel like maybe we've heard this as kind of

00:16:55.000 --> 00:17:00.000
praising the widow for her genuine sacrificial generosity,

00:17:00.000 --> 00:17:06.000
contrasting that with kind of the performative sacrifice less,

00:17:06.000 --> 00:17:10.000
giving that the rich people did in the story.

00:17:10.000 --> 00:17:16.000
I've heard it kind of like abused because people, sometimes people say like,

00:17:16.000 --> 00:17:23.000
"See, you have to give everything to the church to be blessed."

00:17:23.000 --> 00:17:30.000
And so it can get kind of misused, I think, in that situation.

00:17:30.000 --> 00:17:34.000
But for our purposes and our conversation, I think it's interesting

00:17:34.000 --> 00:17:38.000
to the fact that Jesus sees this at all.

00:17:38.000 --> 00:17:42.000
So, he's in the temple, there's lots of people milling about,

00:17:42.000 --> 00:17:47.000
and obviously there were many rich people getting up and putting their gifts into the treasury.

00:17:47.000 --> 00:17:57.000
But Jesus kind of focuses in on this poor woman that he sees her.

00:17:57.000 --> 00:18:07.000
That's what he notices because he's tuned to the real moments, right?

00:18:07.000 --> 00:18:21.000
Like these moments of, I guess, of genuineness sees her faith, sees her passion for the people of God

00:18:21.000 --> 00:18:23.000
and focuses in on that.

00:18:23.000 --> 00:18:27.000
Even though it wasn't showy, it wasn't flashy.

00:18:27.000 --> 00:18:36.000
But that's what Jesus sees and calls out and kind of lifts up as awe-inspiring.

00:18:36.000 --> 00:18:38.000
There's another story.

00:18:38.000 --> 00:18:45.000
It's a couple of places in the gospels, but we're going to look at it in Mark.

00:18:45.000 --> 00:18:49.000
So it's also in Matthew, and then Luke tells us a little bit of a different version.

00:18:49.000 --> 00:18:51.000
But in Mark chapter 10, we see the story.

00:18:51.000 --> 00:18:54.000
So again, Jesus is traveling around.

00:18:54.000 --> 00:19:01.000
He's going between Jerusalem and Jericho, and then he finishes in Jericho and he's on his way back.

00:19:01.000 --> 00:19:06.000
He's talking still in the passages around Mark. He's talking a lot about the kingdom of God.

00:19:06.000 --> 00:19:10.000
He's done the whole "Let the little children come to me" thing.

00:19:10.000 --> 00:19:14.000
Children were, had zero rights, zero status.

00:19:14.000 --> 00:19:23.000
But Jesus says, "These are important people," and said, "For such as these, the kingdom of God belongs."

00:19:23.000 --> 00:19:30.000
He's done the whole "It's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God."

00:19:30.000 --> 00:19:39.000
He's even chastised his own disciples because they were fighting for status, a place of status, in his kingdom.

00:19:39.000 --> 00:19:45.000
And he tells them, "Whoever wants to be first among you must become slave of everyone."

00:19:45.000 --> 00:19:51.000
So he's leaving Jericho, and then that's where the story happens.

00:19:51.000 --> 00:19:59.000
So it says, "They came to Jericho as he and his disciples, and a large cloud were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus, son of Timaeus,

00:19:59.000 --> 00:20:02.000
a blind beggar was sitting by the roadside."

00:20:02.000 --> 00:20:08.000
When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say, "Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me."

00:20:08.000 --> 00:20:15.000
Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, "Son of David, have mercy on me."

00:20:15.000 --> 00:20:21.000
Jesus stood still and said, "Call him here." And they called to the blind man, saying, "Take heart, go up, he's calling to you."

00:20:21.000 --> 00:20:24.000
So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus.

00:20:24.000 --> 00:20:30.000
Then Jesus said to him, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man said to him, "My teacher, let me see again."

00:20:30.000 --> 00:20:33.000
Jesus said to him, "Go, your faith has made you well."

00:20:33.000 --> 00:20:37.000
Immediately, he regained his sight and followed him on the way.

00:20:37.000 --> 00:20:43.000
So the story, again, there's a number of things we can see happening here.

00:20:43.000 --> 00:20:52.000
There's this idea that Jesus is not bothered by someone who's coming to him with desperation and in desperate faith.

00:20:52.000 --> 00:20:56.000
That doesn't offend Jesus or it's not too much.

00:20:56.000 --> 00:21:05.000
We also see Jesus doesn't ask for anything. He doesn't demand that the person change or do anything to deserve his blessing.

00:21:05.000 --> 00:21:12.000
I think those are all good, but again, we're going to look at the fact that Jesus saw him anyway.

00:21:12.000 --> 00:21:20.000
There's a big crowd. They're all going around. The guy was calling out, but he doesn't have any right to try to talk to.

00:21:20.000 --> 00:21:33.000
This preacher that's going around the countryside, but Jesus, he's like stops on his journey and he ignores the loud,

00:21:33.000 --> 00:21:43.000
the very insistent, repressive crowd and instead decides to engage with Bartimaeus, who Jesus is turning his attention

00:21:43.000 --> 00:21:50.000
to the lowest, most powerless, most overlooked members of his society.

00:21:50.000 --> 00:22:01.000
Instead of Jesus passing by, Jesus decides he's going to stop and he's going to enter into this sacred holy moment.

00:22:01.000 --> 00:22:09.000
I think that's kind of what we're talking about when we're talking about noticing awe.

00:22:09.000 --> 00:22:19.000
What can I talk about when we're talking about people's stories and that kind of thing is so consistent in Jesus' character in a way that he is living out of his life.

00:22:19.000 --> 00:22:28.000
It's that he's going to do better and rush on his own.

00:22:28.000 --> 00:22:37.000
We know that there is a reason why we want to live in Jesus' family to everyone else, that there is a connection.

00:22:37.000 --> 00:22:42.000
And Jesus is coming and having a spirit.

00:22:42.000 --> 00:22:47.000
He has a spirit in Jesus' spirit.

00:22:47.000 --> 00:22:54.000
Not because of the moment that he's being created by Jesus, but because of his resurrection.

00:22:54.000 --> 00:23:03.000
And I think that he's working because of the fact that he's always so powerful and think of matters as obvious as he is.

00:23:03.000 --> 00:23:13.000
Well, I think all of you have to know that it's a very nice family, a bit honest with you.

00:23:13.000 --> 00:23:22.000
So I want to talk to you a little bit about what you do when you live with a Holy Spirit.

00:23:22.000 --> 00:23:27.000
And I think it works a lot of things like talking to you.

00:23:27.000 --> 00:23:35.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:23:35.000 --> 00:23:40.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:23:40.000 --> 00:23:47.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:23:47.000 --> 00:23:59.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:23:59.000 --> 00:24:23.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:24:23.000 --> 00:24:30.000
Oh, like Ridge is the Lost Ark? Oh, okay. Indiana Jones. Indiana Jones. Everyone.

00:24:30.000 --> 00:24:43.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:24:43.000 --> 00:24:46.000
Yeah, yeah, we got that.

00:24:46.000 --> 00:25:00.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:25:00.000 --> 00:25:29.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:25:29.000 --> 00:25:44.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:25:44.000 --> 00:26:12.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:26:12.000 --> 00:26:40.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:26:40.000 --> 00:27:05.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:27:05.000 --> 00:27:33.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:27:33.000 --> 00:28:01.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:28:01.000 --> 00:28:29.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:28:29.000 --> 00:28:54.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:28:54.000 --> 00:29:20.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:29:20.000 --> 00:29:49.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:29:49.000 --> 00:30:17.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:30:17.000 --> 00:30:44.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:30:44.000 --> 00:31:02.000
[ Inaudible ]

00:31:02.000 --> 00:31:11.000
Yeah, yeah, it's participation, it's holy, and that is awe-inspiring.

00:31:11.000 --> 00:31:22.000
It's almost, you feel like a number of the things we've talked about and given it as examples of awe, like even imagination.

00:31:22.000 --> 00:31:35.000
It's like it's always there. We just have to see it, have to maybe shift our perspective a little bit to let it in.

00:31:35.000 --> 00:31:46.000
I think that's so cool. That reminds me, that makes me think about God's presence.

00:31:46.000 --> 00:31:56.000
We think of God as being everywhere all at once, like the fancy word is omnipresent, that we can't actually be far from God.

00:31:56.000 --> 00:32:05.000
The Psalmist talks about this, Paul talks about it, right? But we can feel far from God.

00:32:05.000 --> 00:32:16.000
I know when I'm stressed about work or stressed about the health of a loved one or the general state of the world,

00:32:16.000 --> 00:32:28.000
it can feel like God's kind of far away. Maybe when I've been on a self-destructive path or been giving in to those really negative patterns, things like that,

00:32:28.000 --> 00:32:37.000
I can feel like God is really far away. But I think that it's different than that in reality.

00:32:37.000 --> 00:32:51.000
I think that God is really just like a moment away, that just like just a small shift in my understanding, my awareness,

00:32:51.000 --> 00:33:03.000
even a lot of times just remembering the fact that God is there, that I'm not alone and that God is always right there.

00:33:03.000 --> 00:33:12.000
And I think that awe, wonder, which maybe we're just talking about a piece of God themselves, right?

00:33:12.000 --> 00:33:23.000
That it's kind of the same thing. Whether we're looking in nature, whether it's on our social media feed or the kid throwing food,

00:33:23.000 --> 00:33:33.000
that maybe it's our neighbor, maybe it's our enemy, that awe is right there. God's presence is right there.

00:33:33.000 --> 00:33:43.000
And similarly, that awe can be right there. We just have to kind of adjust or reorient our perspective, our minds,

00:33:43.000 --> 00:33:54.000
and remember that it's right there. And so I think our challenge then is kind of to hold on to that shift,

00:33:54.000 --> 00:34:01.000
because I think it's easy to set it down in just the busyness of every day.

00:34:01.000 --> 00:34:15.000
But I think as we go about this week that we can kind of take up this challenge to, let's try to remember that, try to hold on to that fact

00:34:15.000 --> 00:34:24.000
that I can see awe everywhere, that God is always right there and that awe is there too.

00:34:24.000 --> 00:34:33.000
I know we're going to talk more about kind of what to do with this. Like, all right, cool. I found the awe now.

00:34:33.000 --> 00:34:38.000
What? But I know we're going to talk about some of that and some practices.

00:34:38.000 --> 00:34:45.000
And so for now, I think we're just kind of carrying on, building on the challenge of last week of resting

00:34:45.000 --> 00:34:55.000
and just creating the mental and temporal space for awe. And then so we can add to that, I guess,

00:34:55.000 --> 00:35:06.000
just this subtle shift in our attention that we can now be just aware of these invitations to wonder.

00:35:06.000 --> 00:35:16.000
And just that's all around us.

00:35:36.000 --> 00:35:46.000
[inaudible]

00:35:46.000 --> 00:35:53.000
And awe is what is interrupting the wrong way.

00:35:53.000 --> 00:35:58.000
And in many months, just in many months, I've said that I did, or totally,

00:35:58.000 --> 00:36:08.000
it doesn't mean that that moment of my presence is what gives it that kind of ability to have a better way.

00:36:08.000 --> 00:36:09.000
[laughter]

00:36:09.000 --> 00:36:10.000
Sounds good.

00:36:10.000 --> 00:36:32.000
[inaudible]

00:36:32.000 --> 00:36:47.000
[inaudible]

00:36:47.000 --> 00:37:09.000
[inaudible]

00:37:09.000 --> 00:37:28.000
[inaudible]

00:37:28.000 --> 00:37:36.000
I would love to experience it through you, through what brings you to that awareness of awe.

00:37:36.000 --> 00:37:46.000
What is interrupting you and stops you? What is happening in your imagination that is going to shift our reality in our future?

00:37:46.000 --> 00:37:54.000
And then to recognize awe in the beauty of the faces of the people that are around you.

00:37:54.000 --> 00:38:06.000
It's just not limited to the definitions that we've given it before, because the Holy is around you, the sacred is within you.

00:38:06.000 --> 00:38:16.000
And from that awareness of awe, we are invited to go love well, because that is who you are created to be.

00:38:16.000 --> 00:38:26.000
So, we say it every week, arsenal, go love well to you are made to be.
