Speaker 0: Good morning, Northern Michigan. This is your cup of Traverse City for the 04/15/2026. And, it's tax day. And amongst other things, we just wanna talk more about what's going on in the weather. It's, crazy.

We've had, like, six inches of rain over the last three days. And, the last I heard, the sheriff's department announced that the Beitner Road bridge has failed. I don't know what they mean by failed, but the upshot is Beitner Road is closed from Chum's Corners down to, oh, what is it? River Road there at the roundabout. That whole section is closed to through traffic and the bridge is out, so that's kinda crazy.

Also, South Airport Road at, Logan's Landing is continued to be closed, due to flooding over the over the bridges there. Not not cool. And I guess there's lots of other flooding all over the place. The, Traverse City area public schools are closed today. First time I can ever remember that they were closed due to flooding.

And, actually, the county had requested that they close today because of all the bridges and construction and everything else. You know, the interlock and construction is in full force and of course the three mile road closure is in full force so that limits a lot of, traffic. So just be aware if you're out and about, the traffic might be a little squirrely, and watch out for sinkholes. I've seen some pictures online of, giant sinkholes here and there. And a little further out, the Pellston Airport, was closed completely, I think, yesterday.

I think they might have one runway going now, but, one of their runways were flooded. I don't know if it was damaged, but, it was definitely had, lots of standing water on it. So, man, yeah, like I said, it's weird, weird weather. Well, that's what happens when you have this huge blizzard and, you know, three feet of snow, and then that all melts real quick, and then you get a bunch of rain. And I guess it's, our turn in the barrel here, but I don't ever remember this much rain in that short a time and it causing so much trouble.

A while back, we had our basement redone, you know, Basement Systems of Michigan. No. It was Ayers Basement Systems. Anyway, they came in and broke the floor up, put in drains, put in a double sump pump, and all that and because we had pretty routine flooding. And, anyway, they, they cleaned that up, and it was bone dry in the basement until yesterday.

And, our sump pumps, both of them have been running pretty much constantly for a couple of days, so they couldn't keep up. So we got a little bit of water on the floor, nothing crazy, but that has been bone dry since they, they put the basement back together. So, well, it is is what it is, I guess. So with that, let's look at the weather. Slight chance of showers before 11AM, then a chance of showers after 2PM.

Patchy fog before 11AM. Otherwise, mostly cloudy with a high near 58. Calm wind becoming north around five miles per hour this afternoon. Chance precipitation is 30%. Tonight, chance of showers and thunderstorms, patchy fog.

Otherwise, mostly cloudy with a low around 47. Calm winds and, and a chance of precipitation of 50%. On Thursday. 50% chance of showers, patchy fog before 1PM. Otherwise, mostly cloudy with a high near 57.

Calm wind around, five miles per hour. So yeah. And it looks like Friday might be sunny, but then Saturday, Sunday oh, jeez. And Sunday, chance of snow showers. Oh my gosh.
