Speaker 0: Good morning, Northern Michigan. This is your cup of Traverse City for the 04/14/2026. I am Mike, and we are under a flood warning. That, it's a little higher than a flood watch or a flash flood warning. It's a whole spiel about it over on the National Weather Service, which is linked here.

Usually, you know, you go don't go to podcasting for a, you know, real time update or anything, but, I think it's applicable. The warning goes through tomorrow, 2PM, mainly around the Boardman And Manistee Rivers, but, you know, could be anywhere. There's a story in the ticker that I pulled up this morning, and, you know, it says heavy rains this week are having major impacts across Northern Michigan with more rain still in the forecast and a flood watch in effect through Wednesday. Now it's a flood warning. So their story's a little behind the times.

The ticker spoke with multiple officials who were on the ground Monday addressing everything from retention wall failure, fish pass site downtown, to flooded roads and trails, to potential dam breaches in outlying areas. And, you know, the one that's been in the news the most is, of course, the Sheboygan Dam, but, Tippy Dam's another one that, was getting a little sketchy. They are, releasing some inch you know, some, water out of the dams to relieve pressure, but, that causes a little down, you know, down the, downriver issues. Yeah. Luckily, where I'm at, yeah, we're susceptible to a little flooding on this stretch of road, but, not so much right here.

You know, my sump pump has been cranking almost continuously. Luckily, I have, two sump pumps in there, and the other one hasn't, hasn't ran in a while. But, you know, when both start running a lot, yeah, we're we're getting a lot of, a lot of rain. We had, like, I don't know. I think it was a inch and three quarters overnight or in the last twenty four hours, and, you know, that's just too much for around here.

I know I've been focusing on weather a lot here, but, you know, it, it does impact us. And and good news, though, the eight foot pile of snow that was in my front yard is now not there, so that's a positive. Yeah. You can look on the bright side. That and and the coffee is is warm and tasty, as usual.

So but, yeah. If you're driving around, just make sure that, a, the pavement is still there, and b, that, if you drive across flowing water, be extremely careful or don't do it, because water is a powerful thing. You go check out the link to the, weather services warning, and, the ticker article has some pictures of looks like a bridge is out. It doesn't say where, but, looks like one one of the bridges has come apart at one end or the other, and a lot of lot of pavement is is going away. There's another picture of a road.

I don't know. It looks like somewhere around Logan's Landing, maybe part of the Tart Trail that's underwater. Yeah. That's where it is. So, like I said, they they are not captioning these pictures, but, yeah.

Go check it out. Yeah. Logan's Landing area definitely looks like it's it's getting a little, a little rain. A lot of rain. So with that, I guess we'll look at the official forecast for today.

Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, partly sunny with a high near 65. West wind around five miles per hour. And then tonight, more rain. Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 2AM, then isolated showers.

Mostly cloudy. A little low around 48. Calm wind. Chance precipitation is only 40%. I would say it was a 100%, but that's just me looking at the, aviation weather.

So, anyway and tomorrow, chance of showers and thunderstorms also possible after 2PM. Mostly cloudy with a high near 63. Calm wind becoming southwest around five miles per hour in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%. And, yeah.

It looks like, the rest of the week until, Friday. Well, even Friday. Friday night, anyway. But, yeah. Every day, there's a chance of precipitation.

So stay dry and be careful when you're out traveling around. You you might find yourself in in water. And hopefully, those dams hold together. That's, that's always ugly when one of those lets loose. I remember the one down by Coleman and Sanford area there along US 10 collapsed a few years ago and, definitely, well, okay.

Here's here's a a a total first world problem, but, it took out a fair number of Pontiac Fieros. There's a there was a dealership down there or a shop or whatever that specialized in Fieros. I think it was in, Sanford. I'm not sure. Either Coleman or Sanford.

And, that that rose the global price of, of vintage Pontiac Fierros because a whole bunch of them got flooded. Of course, this guy probably restored them, so who knows? But, anyway, just a little side note there. Everybody have a good day. Stay dry.
