Speaker 0: Good morning, Northern Michigan. This is your cup of Traverse City for the 04/09/2026. I'm Mike, and, I do have my coffee handy. Happy Thursday. So traffic is going to get ridiculous around on the East Side Of Traverse City.

That's just my humble opinion since, I'll be intimately involved. Not not involved with the actual construction, but, the effects of it. But, Michigan Department of Transportation is planning to start a near nearly three month project on Monday, April 13 to redesign the 3 Mile Road US 31 intersection. Plans call for aligning the Traverse City State Park Beach driveway with the northbound approach of the intersection, which will improve traffic flow entering and exiting the beach, day use area. So what they're basically doing, if you're familiar with the area, 3 Mile Road butts up against US 31 right there at the beach, And about 50 yards to the west is the entrance to the State Park Beach, which is getting problematic, especially in heavy traffic, to get in and out of that beach area.

So what they're doing is they're moving the driveway to line up with with, three mile road. So you'll have a traffic light to go in and out of the park and a traffic light to get out of the park, which I totally support, but they're gonna be doing that, starting Monday. So you're gonna be detouring, 3 Mile Road. I'm not sure where you would get on. Probably go probably at 4 Mile Road and go up to Hammond.

Or if you're a little further past 3 Mile Road, you go down to Airport Access and up to Parsons maybe and back around. I I don't know what that looks like. I guess we'll find out on Monday. But, yeah, that's, right in my neighborhood. So, yeah.

Like, that's why I say I might be in intimately involved. And they're also gonna be doing something up by Royce, by Hammond Road. So there, there's something going on up there. What do they call that? Let's see.

Just, oh, here we go. Here's the detour information. 3 Mile Road traffic will be detoured to Parsons Road and airport access. That's if you're coming north on 3 Mile Road. It doesn't say what you'll do if you wanna go south on 3 Mile Road.

So, anyway, interesting. And they're also, of course, in that same area putting a new traffic light at the campground entrance. So more traffic lights, more stops, and, yeah, this is gonna be a fun summer. And they're also doing something, like I said, up by Roy's at, Hammond Road to, safe trail to school project. So they're they're gonna be connecting, apparently, connecting the Tart Trail that goes, well, I think it stops at South Airport Road right now, but they wanna extend it up to three mile or up to Hammond or down to Hammond if you count, you know, south, and probably a crossing there and then getting to the middle school and the elementary school that's on the other side, Olsen's.

So anyway, yeah, this is hyper hyper local on the East Side Of Traverse City. Not to mention all the craziness that's gonna be happening around Interlochen for the big roundabout they're building, and sure there's a whole lot more. Maybe, maybe tomorrow I'll I'll talk about construction in the area, but this this one, area, but this this one, kinda surprised me. I didn't realize they were gonna start that that quick, one that, you know, where they move where they're moving the park entrance. So let me grab the weather here.

West wind, 10 to 15 miles per hour with gust as high as 25. Tonight, chance of rain after 1AM, mixing with snow after 3AM, and creasing clouds with low around 36, west wind around five miles per hour. East after midnight, chance precipitation is 40%. And, tomorrow, a chance of rain and snow before 8AM. Cloudy with gradually, mostly sunny.

Okay. So it's gonna clear up a little bit. High near 44. North wind, five to 10 miles per hour. Chance precipitation is 30%.
