Hello, and welcome to today's episode entitled obedience opens every door. I wanna talk about it from today's scripture, John fourteen twenty three, where it says, Jesus replied, because I will only reveal myself to those who love me and obey me. The father will love them too, and we will come to them and live with him.

Now one of the chapters in my book, Kneeling at the Throne, a prayer devotional has a chapter called the blessing is in obedience. Now why do I say that? Because the scripture tells us, God told the people of Israel, if you love me, obey my commandments. There was a condition. We often associate love with physical or emotional things, but the scripture is talking about it as an act of obedience.

Now we often if you're a parent, we get a little frustrated with our children when our children don't obey and inflict consequence on them because of them being disobedient. But consider the fact that God being the perfect parent has guidelines to how he wants us to act and approach him also, but much more than a natural parent, he wants to build and enhance the relationship in many ways that we would have never even thought of. Obedience isn't about rules. To God, it's about relationship. He gives us a template and a guideline to what holy living looks like.

What does it mean to bear the name of the divine one? Well, it's about trusting God enough to say yes Even when the path isn't clear, it's about standing up for things we know to do right, even if it's an uncomfortable place and requires courage, which by the way, God will have to provide because in times like that, it will test you and to what you believe or reveal what you don't believe. Many of our blessings in our lives are waiting on the other side of obedience. Jesus told his disciples, everything I do, I only do it because the father has instructed me. When he gave them the Lord's prayer, he opened the prayer up with, our father who is in heaven, holy is your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done. It's never about us. It's always about the will of the father. We're only the conduit or the servant that he uses when we give him our yes. Your next step might feel small, or maybe it feels daunting, but small obedience creates big breakthroughs.

If he can trust you with a little in obedience, then he'll give you more. I talk about God isn't looking for perfection. He's looking for a willing heart. But can I tell you that when you walk in obedience, you will achieve perfection? Because it puts you in a correct heart posture.

It says, Lord, even though I don't understand, I still follow. I often liken it to being in the military. Now I myself have never been in the military, but I do know enough that you have a soldier and you have a commanding officer, and the commanding officer tells the soldier what it is they want them to do, and the soldier is not allowed to talk back. They take the detail the the commanding officer gives and replies with, yes, sir, yes, ma'am, and goes about fulfilling whatever the task is that they were given. So consider when you obey heaven aligns, peace increases, and the purpose for God in your life will become clearer.

It's about prayer. It's about applying his word. And it's about remembering that obedience is the key that opens every door.
