(Music) Good afternoon, good morning, good evening, wherever you are in the world. I hope you're well. I just wanted to jump on and let you know that I have published a new book. It is "Obesity and Diabetes". Now let's take a moment and just think about some of the statistics that I have down here on this piece of paper. In 2022, the World Health Organization reported that one in eight people in the world were living with obesity. And worldwide, the adult obesity has more than quadrupled since 1990, and adolescent obesity has quadrupled as well. In 2022, 2.5 billion adults, 18 years and older, were overweight. Of those 819 million were living with obesity. Those are pretty scary numbers and pretty scary information. And when we look at being a type 2 diabetic, there are risk factors, I'll just refer to my notes again, which are on the back cover of the book. Obesity is a significant risk factor for type 2 diabetes. And the two conditions are closely interconnected. Approximately 80 to 90% of individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes are overweight or obese. Excess body fat can lead to insulin resistance in muscle and tissue cells. This phenomenon is attributed to various factors, including alterations in adipose tissue, biology, cellular function and multi-organ insulin resistance. Weight loss can enhance glycemic control by augmenting insulin sensitivity and facilitating glucose uptake. Regular physical activity also contributes to weight loss and insulin sensitivity. It is imperative to convey the message that this non-genetic obesity is reversible and preventable. Of course, we all understand that obesity also brings with it other medical conditions, heart problems, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, liver disease, sleep apnea, and certain types of cancer, as well as heart disease. So in the book, I talk about the importance of dealing with obesity. It is a risk factor for becoming prediabetic and diabetic. And if you are a diabetic, it's a risk factor for making the condition worse, requiring more medical intervention for your diabetes. So I'm all about prevention and reversing type 2 diabetes and factors like obesity that are involved with type 2 diabetes and can be a cause of type 2 diabetes. So as long as the obesity condition is not genetic, it's not inherited from your parents, it is a very, very good idea to work on reducing your overweight condition so that you're in a more healthy, more active frame of mind because your body isn't carrying all of that extra weight. And all of the other things that go along with it. I know when I started working on reducing the medication for my diabetes and becoming medication free, one of the big factors for me was I had 4 XL size clothes. And now I'm down to 2 XL size clothes. And it was a great relief to see those oversized clothes go to a good home in the local thrift shop. So I just wanted to jump on and give you a quick update on what this book is about and why it is important for a type 2 diabetic or a prediabetic. Have a look at it. Have a look at the e-book, the paperback and the hardback. Choose one that is appropriate for you. And just one last piece of information. The World Health Organization has reported that in 2022, one in eight people in the world were living with obesity. So this is an important problem in its own right. And we want to try and resolve it and resolve our pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes. And do it naturally. That's the key point. Do it naturally. Take care. Have a good day. Good evening. Good morning. Whatever applies to you. Have fun. Take care. Bye now. (Music)
